Will he stay or will he go?

November 16th, 2009 | by joshbaumgard33 |

dwayne-wadeAll of the talk of late has been about Lebron James and what city he will call home next season. There has even been talk about Lebron teaming up with Dwyane Wade to form the most the lethal two star combo since Kobe and Shaq. But what about Wade? Is it really an undergone conclusion that he will stay in Miami?

Lets take a look at the most realistic Wade destinations in 2010…

Miami - There is no question Wade would prefer to stay in Miami, pending that Heat President Pat Riley puts a championship caliber team around him.

Phenomenal weather, South Beach, and the most beautiful women in the world are just a few of the perks that Miami has to offer.

Throw in a Chris Bosh, Lebron James, or even Joe Johnson and it is a done deal: He has to stay. Game over. Two superstars paired with rising stars in Mario Chalmers and Michael Beasley will create a big time contender in the East. Probability of Wade sticking around: 64%

Chicago - Honestly Chi-town is the only place that worries me. It is the only place I know Wade would possibly rather play in for two reasons. He grew up there and Derrick Rose is the point guard. He spends much of his off-season there working out with legendary trainer, Tim Grover.

A Rose-Wade tandem is a tantalizing thought. It would be arguable the most explosive, athletic backcourt in NBA history. But would the Bulls be contenders?

They would have a wealth of swing men under contract including Hinrich, Deng and Salmons, but in this league you need bigs to go the distance and Noah and Gibson is not going to cut it. Without trading one of those perimeter guys, the Bulls would be top heavy and not balanced enough to win it all. Probability of a hometown reunion in Chi town: 35%

New York - The Knicks can dream all they want about DW in New York but it isn’t going to happen. Besides the city itself, the Knicks have zero to offer from a basketball standpoint.

Unless they unload Eddy Curry and Jared Jeffries they won’t have the cap room to sign the surrounding cast neccessary to be even close to winning a title. Probability of Wade in the big apple: 1%

Bottom line: If Wade wants another ring, his best chance is in Miami. If he wants to make things easier on himself and Heat management and facilitate things, then he needs to sign an extension now and then play recruiter to Bosh and Bron.
